Murad Hasam: A Legacy of Kindness, Decency, and Respect

Murad Hasam is a devoted stay-at-home dad, a former “at-risk” counselor for elementary through 12th-grade students, and the founder of Kindness Decency Respect (KDR) — a movement he launched in 2019 following the tragic death of George Floyd. Deeply affected by the moment and determined to spread a message of unity and healing, Murad has committed himself to the idea that three simple words — kindness, decency, and respect — can spark profound change in individuals and communities alike.

With a background as a business owner and a stroke survivor, Murad embodies resilience and reinvention. He is a proud father to a college-educated child and has authored children’s books, even creating the logos himself. Through his work, he encourages young people to stand up against crime and believe in their power to impact the world positively.

Murad’s advocacy didn’t stop at books. He became a volunteer host on a local community radio talk show, where he engaged the public in discussions about pressing social issues. His communication journey began while studying Mass Communication at Lincoln University, where he contributed to the university newspaper, worked on the campus radio station, and helped with photography and yearbook production.

A creative at heart, Murad has also appeared in independent films, print ads, and television commercials — sometimes alongside his children and spouse — further amplifying his voice and vision.

Through Kindness Decency Respect (KDR), Murad continues to lead by example, using storytelling, education, and media to inspire hope and empathy. His life is a powerful testament to how purpose can emerge from pain, and how small acts, driven by compassion, can shift the course of communities — and the world.
